SARS-COV2 Vaccination Statement

As of August 29, 2021, Sacramento Catholic Engaged Encounter will be requiring all retreat participants to be fully vaccinated against SARS-COV2 (COVID-19). “Fully vaccinated” means that an individual received their second shot two weeks prior to the start of the weekend (for Pfizer or Moderna recipients), or their single dose shot two weeks prior to the start of the weekend (for Johnson & Johnson recipients).

“Vaccination is a simple but profound way of promoting the common good and caring for each other, especially the most vulnerable. Being vaccinated with vaccines authorized by the competent authorities is an act of love, a simple yet profound way to care for one another, especially the most vulnerable.”

– Pope Francis

Our ministry is grounded in love – love of God, love of our beloved, love of our community. As such, particularly given the rise of more infectious strains of COVID, our ministry can only continue in the way it was intended (in-person) with participants who are fully vaccinated. All team members leading the retreat are fully vaccinated, as well. It is with a caring concern not only for participants’ safety, but for the safety of the vulnerable who are not present – ailing parents and grandparents, children currently ineligible for vaccines due to age, immune-compromised family and friends – that this policy has become one way in which we seek to care for all, as Pope Francis reminds us.

Vaccine Verification: To verify vaccination status, be prepared to provide third-party documentation at check-in Friday night. Documentation can be any one of the following:

  • QR Code

California Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record: https://myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov/

Nevada WebIZ information: https://izrecord.nv.gov/public/Application/PublicPortal

  • Vaccination card – the physical card, not a picture on your phone

  • Medical app – i.e. My Health Online

  • Printout from where COVID vaccine was obtained – drug store, clinic, doctor’s office

Medical exemptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis with documentation signed by a physician board-certified in internal medicine, family medicine, or obstetrics & gynecology.
